 Within the realm
of distance learning are varying degrees of
home schooling requirements. Distance
Learning, which is also referred to as home schooling, has many benefits to both students
and families.
Fact: A
nationwide study using a random selection of 1,516 families found students of home
schooling to be scoring, on average, at or above the 80th percentile in all areas on
standardized achievement test.
Note: The
national average on standardized achievement tests is the 50th percentile.
At
Heritage, home schooling requirements and curriculum are based
on five subjects -- Math, English, Social Studies, Science, Word
Building and Electives -- for kindergarten
through 12th grade. Our home schooling curriculum work
is sent on a quarterly basis (2.25 months). Upon completion of
one quarter’s worth of curriculum, a new quarter is shipped.
Your Quick
Start Kit will launch the distance learning process immediately. The Kit
includes: Introductory Brochure, Parent Training
Guide And Activity Pack, Complete Set Of Diagnostic Tests (9th grade and below),
Enrollment Application, Record Release Form, and Immunization Record.
Parents will
administer the Diagnostic Tests without coaching, which will help determine the home
schooling requirements and then create the curriculum to custom fit each child. Diagnostic
Testing is available to students in the 9th grade and below.
The Modular System
of home schooling curriculum is built upon learning patterns. Within the modular system, new concepts are
not introduced to the student until the present concept has been mastered. Concepts by
concept, children’s home schooling requirements are assessed and
programs are designed.
Upon completion of
the home schooling requirements, high school diplomas are presented by the Academy.
